Seriously - green onions that continue to grow??

So you really can learn things from tv - David and I were watching the Next Food Network Star and Melissa, my favorite contestant, shared a money saving tip. We tried it and I am not kidding you it works. Take your green onions and place them in a cup of water on the counter - the continue to grow!!! I am so excited, I will never have to buy green onions again. Well that is probably ambitious but you get the picture. :)

Yep Summer is Here!

I have experienced my first shoulder sun burn, and my feet now have my favorite summer feature, flip flop tan lines!!!!

Liam learned how to ride his bike with no training wheels last night, starting and stopping are still being worked on but with his determined spirit I would suspect by the weekend he will be well on his way to riding like a pro. He would like to use the trick pegs on his front wheels...I am now rethinking the purchase of this BMX like bike...seriously don't I know my thrill seeking son :)

Nolan has mastered riding his big boy bike - still very much using his training wheels but he is so proud of himself. One of the best visuals this week has been Nolan riding side by side with his friend Annabelle.

Other evidence of summer are the strawberries in the backyard and David's excitement for his Fourth of July BBQ - this year complete with a smoker.

We are so thankful and humbled by all God has blessed us with. Praising Him for all of you that follow this blog though I haven't been great about updating.

I have been inspired!

Here is Mommy Callahan's recessionary daily happiness list (source of inspiration http://simplystated.realsimple.com/simplystated/2009/03/what-do-you-rea.html)

Challenge to think of the 10 daily needs that keep you happy: (I challenge all of you my blogging friends to jump on board!)

  1. A good strong cup of coffee with just the right amount of hazelnut creamer
  2. Quite time with my cup of coffee my journal and some good prayer
  3. Getting the dishwasher unloaded and the hand wash dishes put away before I leave for work
  4. Clothes that fit and look great on
  5. A parking place at the park n ride
  6. Even better nice weather that allows me to walk to the bus
  7. A seat on the bus for the ride into work
  8. A workday that keeps me on my toes but allows for a breather as well
  9. Hugs and exclamations of joy from my 3 guys at the end of the day
  10. Sweet peaceful bedtime routines with no rascal like behavior once the lights are off

That was so easy and yet really highlights what it takes to keep me happy. All of it almost free!

Spring is getting ready!!!

I love love love springtime - honestly it is one of my favorite seasons of all. The anticipation of flowers blooming and leaves returning to trees. The complete excitement when you see that first precious bulb pushing its way up through the cold earth that was its little home through the winter.

We had the amazing pleasure of having a half dozen robins in our backyard on Sunday afternoon. They were so pretty and confirmed for us that spring is really on the way.

Spring represents growth and change - something that is very much evident inside our house as well. Nolan has turned three and is so ready for preschool, he is all three year old boy, but is still our cuddle bug. Liam is closing in on 5 quickly with kindergarten applications being completed next week. God is doing amazing work in our lives and is echoing within our relationships with each other, within ourselves and the magnificent display of beauty about to explode in the yard.

Here are a couple of shots from Sunday afternoon, a very magical day.
